Formative -After exhibition 1 - into the woods…
After having finished my first exhibition I realised that I wanted to take the artwork I made and place the tropical birds into our British landscapers and photograph to review the effect of the use of colour as well as the juxtaposed climates and how they work together. I removed my 3 rounds of the studio wall and made my way into the woodlands surrounding to begin trying to understand how they hold a place in autumnal England.
Something that I immediately loved was how beautiful the colours of the tropical birds looked combined with the autumnal colours of the leaves and foliage surrounding me. after being used to seeing on television, documentaries and in photographs, the green rainforest leaves or blue waters normally forming the habitat for these striking birds it was an interesting discovery of how fitting the Berkshire country appeared to be.
I noticed something about connecting the branches I had painted to collaged using bark I collected in the woods, to the branches of trees to try and incorporate these birds was really satisfying and something I new I wanted to encourage in my next exhibition piece.
I also realised I really wanted to include branches of trees local to me in my exhibition and turn them into the home for these tropical birds.
